Depending on the type of traveler you are, your motivations, and the length of your trip, there are cities that are well worth visiting, such as Lima, Arequipa, Puno, Cusco, and Machu Picchu. We also recommend visiting the jungle or northern Peru, areas that are less known but no less spectacular.
Of course. In 15 days, you can explore and get to know various parts of Peru. Visit the Pacific coast, enjoy the mountain landscapes, and delve into the natural biodiversity of the jungle.
We can take care of all the arrangements for your upcoming vacation in Peru (booking airline tickets, hotels, restaurants, tickets, guides, insurance, etc.). However, the published prices of our programs do not include airfare to Lima or travel insurance. We usually book these based on your possible travel dates in order to offer you the best price and/or a possible deal.
To date, the value is: 1 Euro = 3.80 Nuevos Soles. We do not recommend traveling with a lot of cash. In Peru, there is an extensive network of ATMs. In addition, some hotels offer currency exchange services.
All year round, but keep in mind that January to March is the rainy season. The average temperature in the country is 22°C, with variations depending on the area you visit. If you want to hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu Cusco, don't forget that it is closed throughout February. August is usually the busiest month, so we recommend making your reservations well in advance, especially for access to Machu Picchu and the train from Cusco to Aguas Calientes.
Vaccinations are not mandatory to enter the country. However, if you plan to visit humid or rainy areas such as the Peruvian jungle, it is recommended that you get vaccinated against yellow fever, hepatitis A and/or B, and chickenpox. Remember that vaccinations must be administered 10 days before travel to be effective. However, we recommend that you visit your trusted doctor.
Peru is almost three times larger than the entire Iberian Peninsula, so distances are greater. Traveling within Peru is very convenient and accessible. You can do so by air or land (the most common and economical means) in buses with seats that recline up to 180 degrees and onboard service. You can also travel by train to Machu Picchu, and even on river cruises through the jungle.
In general, yes. The recommendations are, in any case, common sense: always hire formal services; take taxis from the airport or those recommended by the hotel; travel with guides hired from a travel agency; only exchange money at currency exchange offices; always keep your belongings close at hand and take care of them in crowded areas.
Peru is a paradise for lovers of mountain and adventure sports. To enjoy this experience, keep the following in mind: First, always go with a certified local guide. Our programs include all the necessary equipment for mountain trips (sleeping bags, tents, helmets, harnesses, ropes, walking sticks, etc.). Second, acclimatize for one or two days before climbing a peak higher than 5,000 meters. And finally, to mitigate the effects of altitude sickness or “soroche,” it is best to buy a product at a local pharmacy or drink coca leaf tea, a popular remedy in the Peruvian highlands. The best time to climb the snow-capped mountains is between April and August.
Peru is a country with basically free access for tourists. Most countries in the Americas and Western Europe do not require a tourist visa to enter Peru, and the maximum length of stay granted by the authorities is 183 days (non-extendable). For a longer stay for other purposes (business, studies, etc.).
